Change is in the air here at Kings Kids Village. We are so excited about all that is happening. Construction of our fishpond is underway. Many hours of labor have already gone into it due to rocky soil, but we are making steady progress. It won’t be long before we can put in the first fingerlings. Many of our kids are showing interest in learning how to raise and harvest the fish, and all of us look forward to the delicious harvest.
Just this week we began construction on our greenhouse. It was made possible by a grant from the Safaricom Foundation, a mobile phone company here in Kenya. We have had a garden for some time, but the new greenhouse will enable us to produce many more veggies in a smaller space. With the rising cost of food as well as many mouths to feed, this is an awesome blessing. We thank God for His hand of favor upon us in receiving this grant.
It’s hard to believe that the end of the school term is only four weeks away. There have been many challenges with the addition of 24 new students, but one by one we meet them with God’s grace and an awesome staff.
All of us are eagerly awaiting the homecoming of the Stern family. We are thankful for the many open hearts as they travelled the States these past months, but are looking forward to a wonderful reunion here at KKV. Godspeed and safe travels.
