Jon, Molly and the family have returned from their brief vacation in Lamu. It was a great time of family bonding, and they were very refreshed. As their van pulled into the compound, all the kids who were out came running over to hug and welcome them home. We thank the Lord for their safe return.
Fatuma started school on Tuesday. She was all smiles in her new school uniform, and so excited to go. From the guard at the gate to the kids and all the teachers, smiles and welcome back greetings were everywhere. After a brief review, her teacher said Fatuma is doing very well in remembering her numbers, letters and colors. She continues to amaze us daily.
Here at KKV, all of the teachers made final preparations for our opening day of school. When the school opens on Monday, the paces will be rubbed and ready, and all the classrooms will be decorated. It is so exciting that this will be our last semester in the “old school.” Construction continues to progress well on the new school. Foundation walls are almost complete and then the floor can be put in place. We are so happy that Dr. Hensold has arrived here in Kenya and will be spending the next three months with us at KKV. It is wonderful that he can see the work in progress that his love and generosity made possible.
