There is such an air of excitement here at Kings Kids Village. So many awesome things are happening. We are all so happy that Lydia has returned to us, and very proud of her. She has returned from her studies in the US as a Licensed Practical Nurse. On August 6 Lydia and Tray will be married right here at Kings Kids Village. In preparation for the wonderful day, a friend of the family has donated several trees and flowers to be planted on the compound. We are all looking forward to this day.
The construction on our new building has come along so well. It is amazing to think back just a few short months ago when it was just a dream and an empty piece of ground. Now we are seeing doors and windows in place, classroom and office lights installed, and even the toilet block in place. Many thanks to all those who have made this possible, and to Charles our engineer and his team for doing such an excellent job. On July 31, the Mary C. Hensold Learning Resource Center will be dedicated to the glory of God.
We also are so pleased that Kristen has returned from Lamu. She has spent the last 6 months there as a missionary, volunteering in a feeding program and teaching the children English. During her time in Lamu she also learned Kiswahili, which is what enabled her to teach the children. The island of Lamu is almost entirely Muslim, so the mention of the Name of Jesus was not allowed. Kristen demonstrated in a practical way the love of God in her daily service. We thank God for the many seeds that were planted and trust God for a great harvest of young people from Lamu.
