Happy New Year from Nairobi, Kenya. We are so excited to announce our big project of the year 2019. As we speak, site clearing is happening as we begin our dream KKV Guesthouse. As we look to the future of KKV, we are looking for more ways to make ourselves supported from near rather than far.
So Why a Guest House?
Our guesthouse will serve as an income generating ministry that will also be a shelter for Christian workers who live outside of Nairobi who need to come to the capitol. It will also provide a place on campus for volunteers who come from abroad to serve our kids alongside us. We are keeping some of them in our guest bedroom these days.
How we plan to build it.
One of the most exciting features of this building is that it will be constructed using 5 recycled shipping containers. Container construction not only cuts down the cost of construction materials, but it also cuts down the red tape at city hall because it is regarded as a temporary structure. The building will be about 1700 square feet and will sleep up to 30 people at a time. At maximum capacity, it could generate a net profit of $700 per night. That could go a long way toward self-sustainability.
We need your help!
Our estimated cost for building this guesthouse is $70,000.00. We already have gotten a donation for $5,000 from a local group of lawyers and have begun to prepare the ground for construction. Our dream is to raise 100% of the funds by Summer of this year. We hope you will get on board with us as we march toward making KKV a self-sustaining home in the near future. Your contribution will be very appreciated. Let’s do this thing!
If you are unable to partner financially, we are thankful for your prayers! Also, maybe you know someone who will be interested in partnering with us that we are not connected with yet.
