My story started at the children’s home( Kings Kids Village), a place that taught me the true meaning of community and the value of hard work. I knew early on that to build a secure future for myself, I needed a skill. I needed to build something real. That’s why I pursued an Artisan Certificate in Plumbing (Grade 3). It wasn’t just a certification; it was my first brick laid on a professional path.
But I know I can’t stop there. While I have the foundational skills, the bigger opportunities such as working for a major company, running a large-scale enterprise, or managing a complex project will require a higher level of expertise.
My next critical step is to book the Skill Upgrade Trade Test in January. This requires me to dedicate three months to a focused, part-time class to ensure I pass the final exam.
Passing this test is the vital bridge that will allow me to enroll in a three-year Diploma program in plumbing. This diploma will be a game-changer. It will move me beyond basic repairs and into the detailed, theoretical, and advanced practical aspects of the trade—the kind of knowledge that will make me a leader, not just a laborer.
My ultimate goal is to become a major plumbing contractor, running my own robust enterprise. This business won’t just be profitable for me personally; it wil also be a vehicle for me to employ others and train the next generation, potentially even offering apprenticeships to youth from children’s homes, just like the one that supported me.
This is an investment in a skilled tradesman who is ready to build a business, build a community, and build a lasting legacy.
